i. The firm

A practice built on the old-fashioned idea that the signature on the report should mean something.

Pillar CPAs LLP is a boutique Canadian CPA firm headquartered in Toronto, providing assurance, tax and advisory services to organizations and individuals across Ontario.

Our story

Why we started Pillar.

The firm was founded on a simple observation: as accounting practices grow, the partners often move away from the work. Engagements get scoped at one table, executed at another, and reviewed at a third — while the client waits for a callback.

Pillar was built deliberately small to keep the partner inside the engagement. Every audit, every return, and every advisory file is led, executed and signed by a partner who has been involved in the work since day one. No black-box reviews. No silent hand-offs.

Our clients are condominium boards who need their auditor to actually understand their reserve fund. Not-for-profit organizations navigating governance, funding, and reporting expectations. Owner-managed businesses looking for practical tax, accounting and reporting support. Individuals with trust or estate complexity. They share one thing in common: they want their CPA on the call when something matters.

02 How we work

Four operating principles.

These aren't slogans on a wall. They're the principles the firm is built around.

i.

Partner-led, partner-signed.

One of our partners scopes the engagement, leads the work, and signs the deliverable. The relationship doesn't get handed off because a deadline is approaching.

ii.

Specialization over volume.

We take on engagements where our experience adds real value — particularly in condominium audits, not-for-profit assurance, and owner-managed business advisory.

iii.

Disciplined timelines.

Assurance, tax, and advisory engagements run to a planned schedule. We communicate what we need and when, and we hold ourselves to the same standard — keeping engagements organized, proactive, and on schedule.

iv.

Plain communication.

Boards and business owners need decisions, not jargon. We explain what the numbers mean and what to do about them — clearly, concisely, in writing, and without unnecessary complexity.

04 Leadership

Led by partner-level practitioners, not org charts.

Managing Partner Donna Liu, CPA, CA, LPA, works alongside Partner Ildiko B. Jurina Cleary, CPA, CA, LPA — together bringing decades of senior audit, assurance, tax, and advisory experience across condominium corporations, not-for-profit organizations, and owner-managed businesses.

At Pillar, both partners lead engagements end-to-end — from first conversation to final report. No black-box reviews. No silent hand-offs.
